“Wild Treasures” Oregon’s Native Plants in Contemporary Botanical Art, 2021
Inspired by explorer’s sketchbooks and herbarium samples, Field Notes: Native Plants of the Pacific Northwest is a botanical exploration of indigenous foliage and wildlife. Each piece is a depiction rendering a plant with a quick ink sketch as if working in the field, and collecting a sample for later pressing. The materials used for the three dimensional pieces were paper, wire, watercolor and wool; the pen and ink sketches were done on nineteenth century paper, giving them a delightfully rough texture.
